The first story will be that of Rotondo, one of the most vibrant places in Dilijan.
During the 90’s of the 19th century, Dilijan was hosting some of the most famous faces of Armenian culture and literature, in addition to famous guests from abroad. Built in 1891 through the initiative of the rich and famous, Rotondo Summer Theater became a gathering spot for those famous faces.
Unfortunately, Rotondo Summer Theater has completely collapsed today. It’s ornate stairs, ceilings and balconies have completely disappeared. What remains are the memories of it captured in photographs and the ruins that can be seen on site. This monument of national significance is today a collection of stone pillars protruding into the sky.
